The Urology Austin – first floor project, is a healthcare facility with a strong emphasis on imaging and patient care. We demolished an existing 1980’s, 13,000 square foot office space to allow for the installation of PET, CT, X-Ray and ultrasound machines to help detect and monitor the spread of prostate cancer for patients across Central Texas. Improving an office centered shell to a medical space presented obstacles that we needed to overcome, such as seamlessly routing chill water lines from the 1st floor to the roof to a mounted heat exchanger, as well as performing slab quality testing and remediation for the PET machine. The addition of lead lined gypsum board to 4 separate rooms ensured there is no radiation leaks. Lastly, we pulled a new disconnect to provide enough power to adequately handle the service of high amperage equipment. Along with the constraints of adding medical imaging equipment, the Urology Austin project also includes the addition of exam rooms, procedure rooms, a reception and waiting area, a breakroom and workrooms in order to provide day-to-day care for patients. Additionally, we demolished a 5,000 square foot space, divided it and white-box prepped the area for a future sublet tenant.
