Image of key players turning dirt the groundbreaking of Williamson County Fire Station

Our April 12th groundbreaking required a very special type of hardhat as we broke ground on Williamson County’s newest fire station.

This new 10,500 square foot Williamson County Fire Station #2, set to open Spring of 2019, will be located at the southwest corner of Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Elizabeth Park Boulevard. This station will expand WCESD#4 into the rapidly growing Santa Rita Ranch development area to better serve those region.

Battalion Chief Anthony Lincoln served as the master of ceremonies. Chris Ruebusch with PGAL, as well as Ed Horn, who sold Williamson County the land, spoke at the event.

The station will feature:
  •  2 1/2 bays to accommodate 10 firefighters and medical staff
  • Dayroom
  • Kitchen
  • Laundry
  • Offices
  • Conference room
  • Watch offices
  • Medical treatment room
  • Workout space
  • Generator for emergency backup power
  • Detention area for water runoff and treatment

The site was obtained from the developer of Santa Rita Ranch, Wilshire Homes, owned by Mr. Horn. As part of the agreement, the station will be designed to complement the new Santa Rita Ranch community center across from the site on the other side of Ronald Reagan Boulevard. The fire station, along with the planned community soccer fields adjacent to the site, will create a civic node within the overall master plan.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to those involved in coordinating the groundbreaking ceremony, all of the attendees, as well as PGAL Architects.

Sabre Commercial is announced as the first place winner for the National AGC Construction Safety Excellence Award for the second time

Sabre Commercial has been honored as the National Champion in our division for the Associated General Contractors Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA). This award is presented by Willis Towers Watson during the annual National AGC Convention. It has been established as the commercial construction industry’s elite Safety Excellence Awards Program, created to recognize companies that have developed and implemented premier safety and loss prevention programs.

This is our second time to win this prestigious award, which we won in 2016. We couldn’t have achieved this without the hard work of our dedicated employees and subcontractors.

Sabre Commercial snags a spot on the Fast 50 Awards for the fifth year!

The numbers are in and Sabre Commercial has been recognized as a winner in the Austin Business Journal Fast 50 Award. In order to qualify, companies must have experienced dramatic revenue growth during the past three years. All companies are then ranked based on percentage revenue growth. Boasting 38.03% average revenue growth over the last three years, Sabre was ranked 18th place in the large business category.

No stranger to the award, this our fifth time to have placed in the last six years.

Congratulations to all the other winners out there, some of whom we’ve partnered with for various ventures in the past.

Sabre expands capacity at Seton Medical Center Hays

Sabre is building out the fifth floor at Seton Medical Center Hays to make room for more patients, and Superintendent Hal Anderson is running a tight job site. The Sabre Watch recently toured the Kyle construction site with Hal and Assistant Superintendent Colton Stabeno.

Hal said the project, which involves building out the fifth floor to accommodate a new nursing station, an infusion suite, 30 additional patient beds and space for 60 hospital staff, has already overcome a few challenges.

“We have limited access to the elevators in the building, since there are only two to the fifth floor that have to be available to patients and staff,” said Hal. “We made our early deliveries by crane, through an opening we created. Now we have the buckhoist to get our workers and materials up here.”

As we toured the 27,000-square-foot site, Hal took us through the safeguards and technical expertise needed to accommodate the highly complicated mechanical, electrical and telecommunications systems of the hospital. The site was meticulously clean and organized, from protocols to keep workers from tracking dirt, to protecting cables from paint drippings and debris.

Seton Hays completion is scheduled for late November, and the fifth floor should be ready to receive its first patients the first week of December 2018.

Construction complete at The Range Austin, High End Shooting Range in South Austin

Sabre Commercial recently completed The Range, a $9.6 million indoor shooting facility located near IH-35 and William Cannon in Austin. The 52,000-square-foot, two-story tilt-wall building houses five indoor shooting ranges with a total of thirty-seven lanes, three classrooms, and a full service retail and gunsmith shop.

“The Range is one-of-a-kind,” said Sabre’s Jarrod Cady, who served as project engineer, and helped close it out as superintendent. “They have a clear focus on safety. The range walls are 7.25-inch-thick concrete panels, and the ceiling is protected by an AR-500 ballistic steel baffles system. The building also includes an advanced ventilation system that filters out harmful lead particles from the air with a full air exchange every 85 seconds.”
The ground-up project for client Patriot Entertainment includes a VIP lounge upstairs with five private meeting rooms, a VIP pistol range, a lounge with a fireplace, a billiard room and a walk-in humidor. The space boasts an advanced HVAC system, and high end finishes and casework throughout.

The Range has one of the largest inventories of weapons in the region, including tactical weapons, hand guns, shotguns and rifles. They offer an array of training classes, from beginner level to advanced courses for seasoned gun enthusiasts. The facility also features a sophisticated targeting system that offers preprogrammed multiple shooting scenarios, and custom shooting experiences created by the user. In the future, it will even incorporate cameras that exhibit shooting accuracy without reeling in targets. Even the glass retail cases displaying the guns were custom built, and include a T.V. display that can bring up the specs of each individual fire arm.

“This was an extremely unique project, mixing industrial construction with high end finishes,” said Jarrod, “We had quite a few third party vendors who were contracted through the owners, and our biggest challenge was to coordinate closely with each of them–sometimes building around them until their tasks were complete. In the end it all worked out great.”

Their new facility brings a very sought after, high-tech industrial employer to the area. The construction scope included the site planning, schematic design, design development, construction documentation and limited construction administration for the development of the new 40K SF CHiP Semiconductor office, warehouse and laboratory. The concrete, tilt-up shell building is composed of an internal steel framed structure.
